I am all for recycling - most New Englanders are.

Maine is considered the state that recycles the "best," as 74% of waste is recycled, according to an O.Berk article.

Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts are all in the top 6 "best" states that recycle as well...

So we care about our planet in New England...but how much?

Japan's Recycled Toilet Paper:

According to a Good News Network article, Japan has officially launched recycled toilet paper made from used diapers.

Yes, you read that right. Used. Baby. Diapers.

Now, they are sanitized...but is it enough?

According to the Good News Network, 98 TONS of diapers were sanitized, bleached, shredded, and mixed with recycled paper to create the recycled TP.

And the price, because it is created with used materials, is low, low low.

Right now, a dozen rolls of Charmin toilet paper from Target costs $16.79. Japan's diaper toilet paper costs $2.70 for a dozen. 1/7 of the cost...

Should we use recycled toilet paper in New England?

Clearly, New England is leading the United States' charge in the recycling battle.

And recycled toilet paper clearly has benefits - I mean 98 tons of diapers stayed out of landfills and were used to be repurposed into TP.

The question is will this catch on?

Would you be willing to get past the fact that it was a used diaper? Or would knowing that your TP already had some fecal matter on it in another life be too gross?
