Rochester Hospital Teams Up With Walgreens to Offer Emergency Overdose Kits

(Rochester, NH) - An agreement between Frisbie Memorial Hospital and Walgreen Pharmacy will make Narcan available to friends and family members of those in danger of overdosing on opioids.

A standing prescription order will be available at the Rochester Walgreen Pharmacy , allowing the purchase of the emergency overdose kit.

It is hoped that the program will expand to pharmacies in other communities as well in hopes of preventing overdose deaths for those addicts who have yet to seek treatment.

Frisbie Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Director Dr. Mathurin Malby says that there have been 233 overdose cases treated at the hospital this year.

Rochester has seen 8 overdose deaths in 2015.
