Rochester, NH Woman Accused of Assaulting Year Old Child
A Rochester woman accused of assaulting a child who was just over a year old has been indicted by a grand jury at Strafford County Superior Court.
Haylee Bernier, 20, is charged with first-degree assault and faces up to 15 years in prison if she is convicted.
Bernier allegedly caused multiple fractures to the child's arms, including a fracture that required surgery. Prosecutors say the injuries happened between January 22 and 29 of this year.
Bernier was indicted on Sept. 16 in Dover.
Bernier was arrested by the Rochester Police Department in mid-March after a six-week investigation.
On Feb. 2, police were notified that a child from Rochester was at Mass General Hospital in Boston with injuries that appeared to be suspicious. Rochester detectives went to the hospital and began their investigation.
Bernier has a court-appointed attorney.
