Rochester Sets Date for Holiday Tree Lighting
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce has announced, according to Fosters.com, that their annual Holiday tree lighting will be held on December 6 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm at Central Square in downtown Rochester.
The tree lighting is recognized by many to be the official kick-off to the holiday season.
This year, in addition to the ceremony of tree lighting, there will be activities for the kids.
Mayor Caroline McCarley will be reading The Nightmare Before Christmas Story to those in attendance, Fosters stated, and there will be cookie decorating, dance performances by Studio 109 Dance and Voice & Drama.
There will be hot chocolate and cookies and even a special appearance by the big guy, Santa himself all the way from the North Pole!
The tree lighting will also be a collection event for families in need and attendees are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped books and puzzles, the article states. Also needed are donations of toilet paper and paper towels.
Let’s get ready for the Holidays by giving back and to those in need while having a great time at this event.
