There's something about sitting on a deck watching the water, boats, and smiling faces of people celebrating the arrival of summer in New England.

We wait a long time for those coveted three months of June, July, and August, and all the joy the sunshine brings to campers, golfers, boater, runners, and diners.

Sipping on a cold drink on a cool deck while the sun's shining is one of life's little victories.  It's a moment you can freeze-frame in your brain to bring back on a dull winter's day.

Where are the best dining decks on the Seacoast?  That question was asked on the Seacoast Eats Facebook page, and there were some great responses.

Favorite Deck Dining

BG's Boathouse on Wentworth Avenue in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, was mentioned often.  Now in its 47th season, BG's is a local favorite on Sagamore Creek, with casual dining and loads of options for seafood and more.

The Deck in Salisbury, Massachusetts, was just as popular with locals. It features two stories of decks, live music, the famous Malibu Rum Bucket, and gorgeous sunsets.  Oh, and the food is good too.

The Deck at Dockside in York, Maine, features smash burgers, fresh catches, and passion cheesecake.  Of course you can get those coveted Maine lobsters, and ribeye too.  You might see a wedding party or two, so get ready to be impressed by everything here.

The Farm in Dover, New Hampshire ,offers riverside dining on a large deck. The food ranges from house-smoked St. Louis ribs to fresh haddock and creative burgers.  As a staple for years, it's definitely a favorite hot spot in Dover.

Barnacle Billy's in Ogunquit, Maine, is in Perkins Cove.  If you have never been to Perkins Cove, be prepared to be delighted.  It's a lovely small cove with shops and restaurants quintessential to New England.  Barnacle Billy's is famous for lobster, coastal fare, and homemade clam chowder and blueberry pie.

Other mentions include Cape Pier Chowder House in Cape Porpoise, Maine, Pepperell Cove in Kittery, Maine, Brix & Brine in Ogunquit, Maine, and the Cliff House in Maine.

No matter which you choose, be prepared to relax and enjoy.
