A Selectman in the town of Epping, NH has auditioned for The Voice.

Cody Belanger, who is one of the town's youngest selectman ever, decided to follow his dreams and try out for the hit NBC show.

According to Seacoast Online, Belanger answered an open call for The Voice.  The easiest part is that they were accepting online submissions.  Check out Cody's audition tape:

I talked to Cody about why he decided to try out:

“I’ve always enjoyed singing, when I worked on a factory line the guys I worked with would always encourage me to sing. It was those same guys that encouraged me to go on the voice.”

Cody had to watch a countdown clock and then perform acapella.  Cody says he didn't know what to expect and he was extremely nervous.

So, how did Cody do?

Well, he tells Seacoast Online:

"I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped"

We do know he has great taste in music though since he picked a beautiful Kane Brown song "For My Daughter".

Cody says:

“The reason I chose to sing ‘For my daughter’ by Kane Brown was due largely in part that growing up I didn’t have a good childhood. My mom pushed my dad away from my life, and my mom wasn’t the best influential parent either. I chose to break the cycle. My wife Emily and I are adopting my nephew, and I felt it was fitting that he know the cycle can be broken too”

Unfortunately it was a no from the show, but that hasn't stopped Cody from following his dreams. He tells Seacoast Online that he's considering teaming up with a friend to try out for American Idol!

If at first you don't succeed, keep on trying!  Good luck Cody!

By the way, if you think you've got what it takes to make The Voice and hang out with Blake Shelton, Virtual Open Call auditions are taking place here.
