Shuck Yeah! The Yarmouth Clam Festival is Returning to Maine in Summer 2022
The Yarmouth Clam Festival is back on for 2022!
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that most Northern New Englanders thrive on seafood (except for the food allergic and the small portion that isn't a fan), and we live for our seafood festivals. Unfortunately, for the last two years, the Yarmouth Clam Festival has been canceled because, well, you know why.
But finally, next summer, all of that changes.
Mark your calendar for July 15-17, 2022!
Known for always going off the third weekend in July, the 2022 Yarmouth Clam Festival will go off thanks to the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce from Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17! As always, the festival is free to the public and proceeds from food sales and parking fees, according to the official website for the Yarmouth Clam Festival, will be spread throughout the Yarmouth community through student events and scholarships, Eagle Scout projects, elderly assistance services, contributions to area food pantries and soup kitchens, and so much more.
While ideally, all of those competitions, events, and more will go off without a hitch next summer, organizers are obviously proceeding with caution and keeping an eye on regulation updates due to the pandemic.
In the past, there has been an incredible amount of action, including a parade, a carnival, live music, a pie eating contest, clam shucking competitions, a kids fun run, a firefighters' muster competition, and so much more. While ideally, all of those competitions, events, and more will go off without a hitch next summer, organizers are obviously proceeding with caution and keeping an eye on regulation updates due to the pandemic.
People come from all over for the Yarmouth Clam Festival!
According to the official website for the festival, there have been years where over 80,000 people have traveled to check out all the action at the festival, with visitors from 32 states and 13 countries!
And as far as the food? In years past, more than 6,000 pounds of clams have been eaten, along with 6,000 lobster rolls and 6,000 strawberry shortcakes, all washed down by over 13,500 lime rickeys (and who doesn't love a good lime rickey?)
And with next summer bringing the first Yarmouth Clam Festival in three years -- no doubt those records will all be smashed!
