You Can Rent a Bike on Skis, “Sno-Gos,” at These New England Ski Mountains
Have you ever seen a bike on skis?
I had not, until this weekend - and we may be seeing more of them across New England ski resorts in the upcoming years.
What is a Sno-Go Bike?
A sno-go is a bike on skis.
I know you are probably thinking, "How the heck does that work..." And the answer is exactly how you would imagine.
You sit on a seat that is connected to handlebars, like a bike.
Under the seat are skis that operate the same way traditional skiing/biking would: turn your handlebars and lean left, and you go left. Turn your handlebars right and lean right, you'll turn right.
Are Sno-Go bikes legal?
Yes, at a lot of ski mountains.
Sno-Go bikes are becoming very popular. Sure, they are not "traditional;" however, when snowboards were first invented they were abnormal to the skiing community too.
From watching the videos, without actually trying one myself, Sno-Go Bikes seem very easy on the body. I want to try one desperately to see if they are easy on the knees - a pain many skiers and snowboarders know all too well.
Based on the Sno-Go website, there are tons of mountains that are allowing Sno-Go Bikes and even offer out rentals.
