There are a lot of lies and hoaxes on social media, and we want to help you avoid them at all cost.

These days it can feel like a Sherlock Holmes novel just scrolling through that Facebook News Feed and digging through all of the lies and half-truths within it.

Facebook now gives users the chance flag false reports in an effort to cut the untrue clutter that is spread to its users. This isn't a fool-proof method of stopping misinformation, but at least it is a start.

The website Antiviral hates this nonsense as much as the rest of us and compiled a list of the most untrustworthy news sources on Facebook right now. These fake news websites share their bologna on social media and rake in money from all the pageviews.

They target conservatives, liberals and anyone else who will click on their nonsense. The damage to public knowledge takes a backseat to advertising dollars.

My first stop is Snopes.com whenever I see something that looks like a hoax on Facebook. Always check the facts before hitting "share."
