One of My Favorite Restaurants in Portsmouth, NH, is Adding a Second Location
Writing about new restaurants is cool and all, but when you get to write about one of your own favorite hot spots, that gets me all kind of excited.
I'm talking about one of my favorite eateries, The Shanty Family Tavern.
The Shanty is seriously on a rotation in my house. And I ALWAYS get the Rancher Pizza, which comes with Ranch dressing, chicken tenders, bacon, and tomatoes.
But this is not about my favorite meal. It is about a new location opening in Rollinsford, New Hampshire.
The place is really coming along. If the new spot is anything like the Portsmouth location, it will be a FUN and family-friendly tavern/pub.
One of my favorite things about the Shanty is the family-friendliness. It is a very casual dining spot. It is a restaurant that feels...homey.
Here is a current update on progress.
According to the Shanty website:
Joe Scarlotto and Bob O'Leary are Portsmouth natives who have lived in the area their entire lives. When they were in their 20s, they used to hang out at the legendary Fish Shanty in Portsmouth. Back then, everyone just called it The Shanty.
When Joe and Bob reconnected in 2012, they kicked around the idea of opening a family restaurant in Portsmouth and bringing back The Shanty. They wanted it to have the same casual, neighborhood feel, the same traditions, and same menu everyone loved. As a show of respect, they asked Al Neri, the original owner of the Fish Shanty, for permission to use the name. Joe and Bob got the green light, and The Shanty of Portsmouth was born.
And the food matches the family-friendly atmosphere with the best comfort food.
If you are in the service industry or looking for a job, they ARE hiring too.
Although all of their job fairs have past, they are still looking for employees to staff the new location.
If interested in applying, email Missy@theshanty.com.
Look at this healthy, comforting meal. Damn.
