The Show Must Go On, Westminster Dog Show of 2021

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is going to be held next weekend but not at its traditional venue of Madison Square Garden in New York, according to unionleader.com.

I love watching the show every year.  I am a dog guy, but I also have a cat.

Every year I ask my wife for a new dog based on the winner and she usually says “no.”

Where Will the Show Be?

It will be very odd to see it being held at the Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, NY, and most of the show will be held outdoors so let’s hope for good weather for the weekend.

Something about the show I did not know was that there are four veteran judges from New Hampshire, according to the news outlet! Oh, yea go, 603.

Knowlton Reynders of Newbury, James Phinizy of Acworth, Elliot More of Deerfield, and Mark Threlfall of Merrimack, are the judges, according to reporting by the news outlet.

Who Will Take Home Best in Show?

The drama of who will be declared “best in show” is always exciting.

Elliot More who owns a veterinarian practice in Derry will be judging the working group of dogs.  I love the big dogs.  I have an English Cream Golden Retriever and the big dogs are a crowd favorite.

More tells unionleader.com: “The best dogs in the country, and for that matter… in the world meet at this show to compete.  So, as a judge, this is a real challenge.  You just don’t get to see that kind of quality in the same ring.”

I can’t wait.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
