Good to know someone actually gives a hoot. (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

BIG kudos to New Hampshire State Trooper Christopher Cummings and his wife who were able to save an owl's life on Saturday night.

WMUR reports the two were on their way home from shopping at the Merrimack Premium Outlets when, out of no where, an owl collided with the side window of their car.

The two turned around on Industrial Boulevard and returned to the animal's aid, but realizing it needed additional care, they called for help.

The trooper's wife called Capital Area Veterinary Services in Concord who told her to wrap up the animal in something warm and bring it in.  They say taking the time to check on the animal most likely saved it's life.

Wings Wildlife Rehabilitation plans on releasing the owl back in to the wild in Merrimack.
