This Outstanding New Hampshire Senior Is A Friend To Everyone
97.5 WOKQ and American Senior Magazine have teamed up to salute an outstanding senior who makes New Hampshire a special place to live. Over the next few months, we'll highlight some amazing people. This week we salute Marsha Bletzer.
Brinn Sullivan, at Senior Space, says this:
Marsha makes everyone feel welcome. Her inclusive spirit is what helps her treat everyone equally and without judgment. The average age of our members is 74 and Marsha makes the group laugh like they are 4.
She keeps an eye on everyone. When someone is not there after a couple weeks she calls to check in on them and implores them to come back and visit her – she understands the importance of people keeping their social network. The personal connection makes all the difference. When one of our members was in the hospital she went to visit him to give him one of her smiles.
While Marsha is on-site volunteering for us 4 hours each week I know she puts in hours of thought and energy into preparing for her visit. She looks up jokes, buys or bakes snacks, finds treasures to bring in and share, and basically is preparing to bring her A-game each week.
Marsha also has that knack to overhear a conversation or innocent chatter and later ask us staff about what we can do as a center to find resources for them or help them in some way. She does not miss a beat.
Nominate a special senior in your life to tell their story. They can be a relative, friend, neighbor or someone else you know. You can even nominate yourself. And the featured senior will receive a $50 gift card to use at an area mall, and a one year subscription to American Senior magazine! They’ll also be invited to a luncheon here at Townsquare Media, honoring all of the seniors we’re saluting.
