No... Not like that!

The folks at TiVo is the company that pioneered the DVR. So all TiVo's are DVR's, but not all DVR's are TiVo's. The TiVo folks did a survey among their users to ask about shows that couples like to watch 'together'.

There are a few shows that Karen and I watch together on the DVR. I can watch 'The Daily Show' with or without her, but not 'The Soup' or 'Pawn Stars'. Then there's the list of about 20 shows that I absolutely have to watch when she's not around at all.

TiVo did a survey on those 'must watch together' shows and found that 6 in 10 TiVo users who had committed to watching a show with their significant other actually watch the show alone. Then they lie about it! They tell their partner that they haven't watched the show and will sit through it and watch again just to maintain the lie.

That's got to be tough:

Them: 'Honey do you think they'll get out of the warehouse before the bomb goes off?'

You: 'Sure. He'll remember that the bad guy's favorite color is aquamarine and he'll cut the aquamarine wire in the bomb to diffuse it.'

Them: 'Wow, you're really smart'.

(Or, if their IQ is anything above room temperature...)

Them: You SOB, you already watched this didn't you?'

Before you criticize my little one-act drama you should also know that the people who 'DVR cheated' (yes, it's a thing) the most were guys. They watched the show, lied about it and said they didn't watch the show, then watched it again.

Cheating in the 21st century is really boring.
