UNH Starting a ‘Beer Studies’ Program for Students and Brewers Around NH
The new program designed to keep up with the popularity of the New Hampshire craft beer industry will include classes, a testing lab, and an on-site pilot plant.
Finally, UNH students get to learn the science behind what they're consuming almost 7 days a week.
New Hampshire has 8 beer distributors, and 50 breweries as it stands right now. That is a tremendous amount of untapped experience for young minds looking to get involved in the beer production industry.
That is why UNH is getting out in front of the action by starting a new minor in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture school. The new endeavor will include the opening of an analytical testing lab, a professional development certificate program and a brewing minor with pilot brewery.
The new program will start with a five-day non-credit course called "Craft Brewery Startup Workshop: The Business of Beer." The class will teach students how to start their own brewery and registration will begin after March 30th.
Everywhere you turn there's a new brewery opening in the Granite State and I'm guessing some of them would have loved to get involved in these classes before starting their own business. Kudos to the administration at UNH for creating such a unique opportunity.
