Want to Watch a Celtics Game in New Hampshire With This Basketball Legend?
The Chief is coming to The Brook.
Boston Celtics legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Robert Parish will make a special appearance at The Brook in Seabrook on Thursday, March 30, for a watch party as the C’s take on the Milwaukee Bucks, according to a press release from the New Hampshire State Lottery.
The event marks the three-year anniversary of sports betting in New Hampshire, and is sponsored by the NH Lottery and DraftKings.
In addition to the watch party, Parish will also take questions from fans from 6:30-8:30.
Parish is a four-time NBA Champion and was named to both the NBA’s 50 Greatest and 75 Greatest Players list. He was acquired along with fellow Hall of Famer Kevin McHale in 1980 in a trade widely regarded as the biggest steal in league history.
Along with Larry Bird, the trio – known as The Big Three – won three titles in the 1980s. Parish would win a fourth as a member of the Chicago Bulls in 1997.
Parish holds the record for most games played during a career that spanned 21 seasons. Nicknamed “The Chief” by teammate Cedric Maxwell (as a nod to the quiet Native American in the film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Parish was similarly known for his stoic on-court demeanor.
However, he was beloved by teammates for his dry and subtle sense of humor, and would remain in Boston longer than any player from the team’s 1980s heyday.
Parish’s number 00 was retired to the rafters in 1998 with Bird and McHale – and Celtics patriarch Red Auerbach – at his side.
