Sometime before the Christmas holiday, those of you who use the Route 16 a.k.a. Spaulding Turnpike's exit 6 ramp on the northbound side will see some pretty major changes.

According to an article in Fosters, the northbound Exit 6 ramp that provides access to Route 4 west to Durham and as well as access to Dover Point Road in Dover will have a new configuration.

New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NH DOT) told Fosters that the current loop ramp configuration will change and commuters will exit onto a slip ramp to a set of signal lights.

NH DOT officials say they will put up signage about when the changes will begin and give people as much advanced notice as they can because if you miss the new exit ramp, you will have to go through the Dover tolls to exit 7.

Adam Chestnut from the NHDOT tells Fosters, 'it’s a significant change.'

This latest construction is just part of the nearly $3 million project to widen the Spaulding Turnpike between Newington and Dover. The work is not expected to be completed until sometime late 2020.
