There’s something about getting outside this time of year in New Hampshire…
fresh air, a little sunshine, and finally shaking off that winter feeling.

This event makes my heart happy and is one of the most popular outdoor family events in the state and it's coming back to Concord. The best part? It’s completely FREE.

Discover WILD New Hampshire Day is happening Saturday, April 18 from 10am to 3pm at the grounds of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department on Hazen Drive.

I love events like this.  I love getting kids involved in the outdoors. This is hands-on, interactive, and honestly, pretty cool for both kids and adults.

What You Can Expect

You’ll see live animal exhibits, including trained falcons (if you've never seen these close up, it's a must see) plus big fish tanks showcasing species right here in New Hampshire.

There are also live demos, like retriever dogs doing their thing, which is always cool to watch.

But the real highlight? You can actually try a bunch of outdoor skills:

  • Archery
  • Casting and fishing techniques
  • Fly tying
  • Air rifle range (safely supervised)

There are also hands-on craft stations for kids and a full lineup of conservation groups from across the state.

So you’re learning something… without it feeling like learning.

If you love food, good news, there’s a food truck alley, so you’re covered when everyone gets hungry.

Why This Event Is Kind of a Big Deal

This event has been around for more than 35 years, hosted by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and supported by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire. Be sure to stay up to date on info by following the NH Fish and Game Dept Facebook page.

I've learned quickly how much everyone here loves the outdoors and you don’t last that long unless people genuinely love it.

It’s one of those rare events where kids get off their screens, try something new, and actually get excited about it.

Whether it’s shooting a bow for the first time, learning how to cast a line, or just seeing wildlife up close… it sticks with them.

And for adults, it’s a pretty great reminder of how much there is to do outside around here.

  • Free admission
  • Rain or shine
  • 10am–3pm
  • Held at NH Fish and Game, 11 Hazen Drive in Concord
  • No pets allowed (service animals only)

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for something easy, fun, and actually worth your time…

It’s one of those days your kids will probably still talk about on the ride home.
