Win Tickets to See The Band Perry + NH Vet To Receive Medal of Honor Today

All this week, The Morning Waking Crew is giving away tickets to The Band Perry at the Bank of NH Pavilion at Meadowbrook. 

If I'm not mistaken, it was 2009 that Kimberly, Neil and Reid stopped by Studio Big. They were on what the business calls a 'radio tour.'  They were new to the music scene and played a few songs for us in a conference studio.  All of us knew after that meeting, the trio was heading toward the big time.  The harmonies were amazing and they just had that star quality.

Well, now is your chance to see them in person.  On Sunday, August 3rd, the siblings will be making a stop at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook.  Be listening this week for your chance at tickets.  If you want to make sure you get seats for the show, you can always order your tickets online.

International Monitors Expected In Eastern Ukraine
A team of international monitors, including Dutch members, are scheduled to visit the Malaysia Airlines crash site in eastern Ukraine today, as well as Torez, where a refrigerated train is being used to store the victims' bodies. Meanwhile, rescuers retrieved more bodies today from the plane shot down on Thursday, killing 298 people.

Medal Of Honor For NH Veteran
President Barack Obama will bestow the Medal of Honor on a New Hampshire Army veteran who fought off enemy fighters during one of the bloodiest battles of the war in Afghanistan despite being critically wounded by shrapnel. Former Staff Sgt. Ryan Pitts of Nashua will be awarded the medal during a White House ceremony today. It is the nation's highest decoration for battlefield valor.

Man Rescued By Good Samaritans 
State officials say good Samaritans helped a Massachusetts man who became ill and exhausted during a fundraising hike up Mt. Washington. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says a nurse practitioner and an EMT who were also hiking the Lion Head trail stopped to render aid to 62-year-old Wayne Taylor.

A 27 year old Illinois woman allegedly stole a bunch of items from a clothing store, then posted selfies of herself wearing said items.  The store posted a video on their social media sites showing the alleged shoplifter.  It took about an hour for people to start recognizing the alleged thief.

Joke du Jour

A man was running late for his own wedding.  He sped to the church and ended up driving around the parking lot 3 times looking for a parking space.  Frustrated and in tears, the man cried out to God:  If you just give me a parking spot, I promise, I'll quit smoking, drinking and I'll never use your name in vain.  Please, I can't lose my bride." Just then, the groom noticed an open space.  Instantly, he stopped crying and shouted to God:  "Nevermind, I found one!"
