They tried to take to explain that they're not trying to insult their fans and end up further insulting their fans.

Recently the New York Yankees announced a new policy stating that they will admit fans to present tickets printed off the internet when attending upcoming games in the 2016 season.  Basically they're trying to keep the outside ticketing agencies (ticketmaster, stub hub, etc)  out of the business of selling discounted tickets to premium seats at their games.

According to Deadspin, after an outcry from their fan base (and in an incredibly misguided attempt to clarify why they were doing such a thing) Yankees COO Lonn Trost went on WFAN Radio in New York to explain why it is that people who buy the premium seats at lower prices just aren't ready for such an experience.

Trost says "...quite frankly, the fan may be someone who has never sat in a premium location. So that’s a frustration to our existing fan base.”

So let that be a lesson learned to those of you blue collar fans who think you can just mix in with New York's elite Yankee fans, who are probably just there to take selfies and aren't even that interested in the game going on anyway......
