Driver Killed After Striking Tree in Canterbury

(Canterbury, NH) - State Police say one person died and another was injured in a fiery crash Monday night in Canterbury.Police say a car went off Shaker Road around 8:30, struck a tree and went down an embankment. The vehicle hit a rock and burst into flames.

The driver was trapped in the wreckage and efforts to save him were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

A passenger was able to escape the vehicle and suffered just minor injuries.

The name of the male driver and the passenger have not been released pending further investigation.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
