The 2020 Olympics are the most recent casualty of the Coronvirus Pandemic.  Veteran International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound tells USA Today that the games, which were to take place in Tokyo, will officially be postponed.

The Olympics were set to begin on July 24th. Pound says that a new plan will be revealed over the next month saying "it will come in stages, we will postpone this and begin to deal with all the ramifications of moving this, which are immense.”

Countries had begun dropping out before this decision was made, including Canada and Australia just in the last few days.

There have been major disruptions along the way to the Olympics with many preliminary qualifying events being cancelled.  USA Swimming Chief Executive Tim Hinchy tells CBS Sports "As this global pandemic has grown, we have watched our athletes' worlds be turned upside down and watched them struggle to find ways to continue to prepare and train -- many for the biggest competitive opportunity of their lives."

Right now, Pound tells USA Today that they are looking to reschedule in 2021.
