A 12 Year Old Massachusetts Girl Saves Her Friend’s Life By Doing Something She Learned from ‘The Hunger Games’
WOW! I know a lot of adults (myself included) who wouldn't have known the right thing to do in this situation.
Mckenzie George was playing in the Gloucester Marsh with her friends on June 3rd when she slipped and cut her calf open. According to the Gloucester Times, this wound was 10 inches long and 3 inches wide.
12-year-old Megan Gethring responded super quickly and created a tourniquet using a pair of her friend's shorts. Megan later admitted she got this technique by reading the science fiction novel "The Hunger Games". Well, thank heavens for Suzanne Collins!
Mckenzie is expected to make a full recovery and the George family is so grateful that Megan was able to respond so quickly in a stressful situation. I think a career in the healthcare field will be calling her name one day.
