A Former NASCAR Driver’s Legend, NH, and A Cow In One Photo

When I came across the photo below today, all I could think of was Rick Mast.

Have you heard the story? This former NASCAR driver is about as roots as they get. Before the days of bringing sponsorship by the millions just to turn left with a decent team, Rick raced in the sanctioning body's top series. Before he won the inaugural NASCAR pole at Indianapolis, raced side by side with Dale Earnhardt for the lead, and achieved more than most who wheel a stock car ever will, there was a cow. Yes, a cow.

Rick didn't have enough cash flow to buy a race car, but he did have a pet Angus cow. legend has it that Rick sold the cow for his first race car. Seeing this, I couldn't miss the opportunity.

Rick, for his part didn't disagree.
