My heart sank when I saw the Farmers' Almanac prediction for this winter. It started out with the words "Polar Coaster."

New Hampshire is expected to see plenty of freezing temperatures and snowfall. According to the Farmers' Almanac, during the first week of January and also around Jan. 12-15, we could see “copious amounts of snow, rain, sleet and ice.” A storm system moving through the U.S. could also cause temperatures to “plummet and drag the coldest Arctic air across the rest of the country into the beginning of February.”

YIKES.

This type of weather could be downright dangerous if your furnace goes out unexpectedly or simply isn't up to the task of heating your home. And, of course, you could see delays and extra expense if you need to replace or repair your heating system in the dead of winter.

That's why I suggest you evaluate your heating system now, before winter hits. If you wait til it’s cold to purchase a heating system, you’re going to pay more. My friends at Custom Climates are even offering a $2,000 rebate on whole house heating systems through Sept. 30.
