(Boston, Mass.) - Opening statements are set for today in the death-penalty trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The 25 year old is charged in the April 15, 2013 bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon that killed 3 people and injured more than 260 others.

Defense attorney will try to convince the jury that Dzhokhar was heavily influenced by his older brother Tamerlan, who was killed in a shootout with police. Prosecutors will argue that the suspect acted of his own free will.


A Manchester woman faces arraignment on a robbery charge, Melissa Boucher was arrested about an hour after the holdup of the Members First Credit Union on Bridge Street Tuesday morning at 9. She was taken into custody when police responded to a report of a heroin overdose and Boucher was identified as the robbery suspect by the clothing she was wearing. Police are still looking for a second suspect, 30 year old Derek Potocki.

A Rochester man faces several charges after shooting a dog to death inside his apartment Monday night.

Police say a 4 year old boy was playing with the family dog when the boy was bitten on the head.  The dogs owner, 33 year old Lee Thurston, allegedly placed the dog inside a kennel in the apartment, and shot the dog to death with a high caliber hunting rifle.
He is charged with Reckless Conduct, Cruelty to Animals and Unauthorized Use of a Firearm. The child was treated at the scene for a puncture wound to the head from the dog bite.

One person suffered stab wounds this morning in Manchester. The 31-year old male was injured in an incident around 1 am in a club on Spruce Street. The injuries were not life-threatening.
