Calling All Maine Detectives! Win $1,000 With This Saco Bay Summer Treasure Hunt
Two summers ago, we were pretty much relegated to our backyards and couches. And since the disaster that was Summer 2020, it seems like we appreciate being out and about more. Going on more adventures. Soaking in the fresh air outdoors more. And having fun more.
And what's more fun than a treasure hunt?
Maine and NH have had numerous treasure hunts the last couple years
If we've learned anything, it's that Northern New Englanders have become pretty obsessed with scavenger hunts and treasure hunts over the last couple of years. Last year, to celebrate the Maine Bicentennial, one Mainer couple decided to hide $20,000 somewhere in the state to be found with a scavenger hunt.
There was also the $10,000 scavenger hunt that popular New Hampshire band, Recycled Percussion, put on throughout the 603 last summer (which they ended up doing twice) that helped some Granite Staters score some much-needed cash for following clues around the state.
And with another summer season in Maine, comes another summer treasure hunt.
$1,000 has been hidden somewhere along Saco Bay in Maine
If you're a fan of Etsy, then you may have come across this item up for grabs for just $25 -- the Summer 2022 Saco Bay Treasure Hunt. According to the description, "A $1000 cash prize will be awarded to one lucky individual who solves the final clue and is selected randomly from all correct entries."
The treasure hunt starts out with solving 22 clues, some of which can be completed at home from the comfort of your own couch, but most of which must be completed by actually venturing out to Scarborough, Old Orchard Beach, Saco and Biddeford.
By solving the clues, a hidden message will be decoded which will tell you where to go next. And at some point, a treasure map will come into play, which the description of the treasure hunt says to "use wisely when the time comes." In order to be in the running to win the $1,000, anyone participating just has to reach the end of the treasure hunt and solve the final clue by Monday, September 5.
