(Purchase,N.Y.) - The pilot of a small plane died in a crash outside New York City this morning. The pilot has been identified as 64 year old Richard Rockefeller of Falmouth, Maine , the great grandson of the co-founder of Standard Oil John D. Rockefeller.

The plane took off just after 8am this morning from the Westchester County Airport and went down after hitting some trees. Rockefeller was the only one on board the aircraft.
