This morning I  heard on CBS THIS MORNING that Colorado State University is offering a major in beer, actually craft brewing. I guess that means it's not just taste testing.

Jeff Calloway was in biotech before becoming one of the professors at the college. Calloway told CBS news.

"So before the students even get to think about brewing beer, they have to learn biochemistry, microbiology, physics, organic chemistry. There's a lot that you have to do in order to work your way into the lab,"

I haven't heard of any New England colleges adding the major into their curriculum,  but since it is a  $19.6 billion dollar a year business and employs 115 thousand workers in the U.S. it is a job specialty of the future.

As you should know by now The America on Tap beer fest is Saturday June 27th at the Raitt Farm in Eliot Maine. A day filled with good companionship, good food, good music and over 100 beers. Among those some of the best microbrews in the U.S.A.

Just bring your taste buds and don't worry about passing organic chemistry to be a part of all the fun.
