The Last Friendly’s in Boston is Officially Closed: RIP to New England’s Best Chain

RIP to Chicken Finger Pops and the Loaded Waffle Fries, New England's greatest appetizers.

RIP to the Honey BBQ Chicken super melt, New England's greatest entree to ever live.

The last Friendly's location in Boston, Massachusetts, is officially closed, according to a Boston25 News article. The location was inside Terminal A at Boston Logan Airport.

It will soon be replaced with a Buffalo Wild Wings.

I, for one, am furious. Okay, more just sad.

Friendly's locations are disappearing left and right, and I just need to say this: they HAVE to keep a few open. For nostalgia's sake.

Friendly’s originated as just an ice cream stand in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1935. Friendly's was the SPOT for families and kids in New England with over 800 restaurants nationwide at one point.

I'm not sure if it was their ridiculously low-priced meals, because it certainly was not the interest, but Friendly’s declared bankruptcy in 2011.

Since then, locations all over New England have been closed, and it's truly making me and thousands of New Englanders sad.

There are only 100 Friendly's locations remaining today, 26 of which are in Massachusetts:

I've never started a petition in my life, but I'm really considering starting one for Friendly's. They HAVE to keep a few open in New England. Even if it is one per New England state. They cannot just become extinct.

Save. Friendly's. At least one.
