Hampton Beach Seafood Festival Cancelled

Well,, another one bites the dust.   The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival is officially cancelled due to Covid-19.   The Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce made the announcement yesterday after long deliberations.

On their Facebook page, the Chamber said that they spoke with vendors, stakeholders and volunteers, as well as state and local officials, before making the decision.

John Nyhan from the Chamber says they are disappointed:

"As much as we would love to continue our tradition, we just don’t feel the environment would be right and we just do not know if the state of affairs will return to normal by festival time. In the best interest of the Public Safety and Public Health, the Seafood Festival as an event is cancelled for 2020."

John says they still have some other ideas planned, including producing a Summer-Long Hampton Beach Seafood Guidebook.   The guidebook will serve as a directory for us to be able to find the best businesses for great food, fun, and shopping which can still be enjoyed this summer.  The guidebooks will be free and can be picked up at area Seacoast businesses, or at the Chamber of Commerce.

The Hampton Beach Seafood Festival has drawn up to 100,000 visitors in the past and many people are disappointed including Nicole Dewing who commented:

 "That is terrible-everything is being cancelled-people need something to look forward to."

I think everyone is bummed about all the cancellations this year, but as Dan Lanio commented on Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page:
