It was sad that the Deerfield Fair was canceled last year due to the pandemic but maybe it’s a sign of the times that we can return to normal soon that it is back on. The 144^th Deerfield Fair is slated to begin on September 30 according to unionleader.com. Are you ready for some big pumpkins?

New England’s Oldest Family Fair

The Deerfield Fair claims to be New England’s Oldest Family Fair according to unionleader.com. It will be great to get out and have some old-fashioned family fun. Prepare yourself for crowds, pent up demand for something fun is high. Organizers are expecting nearly 100,000 people to come during the four-day fair. There will be plenty to see from the Flying Wallendas to the goats, dairy cows, beef cattle, sheep, and alpacas. Eat your fill of fried dough and apple crisp. It’s been too long since I have had some fair food.

Horse Show, Sheep Dog Show, Logger Competition, and More

There will be so much going on. There will be ax throwing, log rolling, and of course, PUMPKINS. If you remember, according to unionleader.com the North American record holder for the largest pumpkin weighing in at a whopping 2,538 pounds was awarded to Steve Geddes of Boscawen. There will be displays of flowers and arts and crafts. If you want to check out some antique tractors, there will be a nice display of old farm equipment. Everything from pumpkins to quilts will be a great way to kick off fall and get us in the mood for Halloween and Thanksgiving.
