Shocking Photos and Videos Show Cars Submerged in Flood Waters in Auburn, Maine

It was bound to happen sooner or later with all the rain we've had in this poor excuse for a summer, but I don't think anyone expected flooding in Auburn like this.

The National Weather Service in Gray issued a flash flood warning for parts of Androscoggin County Tuesday. When it's a flash flood watch, they mean be on the lookout for rising water. When they issue a flash flood warning, the chance of flooding happening is pretty good.

And it sure happened on Center Street in Auburn last Tuesday afternoon into the evening. This is a photo taken by Christopher Cousins in and behind the Dunkin' parking lot on Center Street in Auburn and it shows just how quickly and how high the water got.

The Auburn Police Department shared several photos and warned drivers not to try to cross flooded streets as the water is likely much deeper than you would think.

WMTW Meteorologist Ted McInerney got this picture looking like he was standing right in the water.

My friend Larry Paquette shot these photos and videos outside his house. Luckily he stayed dry, but he water looked like it got close.

Hopefully, the damage will be minimal for most people, but I feel sorry for the owner of that car underwater at Dunkin'.

Remember, if you see flooding on streets, do NOT try to cross through the water. Turn around and find another way to get where you're going.
