Maine gets its fair share of celebrities who visit the state.

"Stranger Things" and "Thunderbolts*" actor David Harbour was spotted at A1 Diner in Gardiner, Maine, in 2023, and Massachusetts native Matt Damon was at a Kittery smoothie shop in 2024.

You might be surprised to know that "Mission: Impossible" star Tom Cruise, arguably one of the most famous Hollywood actors, once visited Maine and even made his way to an iconic seafood spot.

Tom Cruise at Red's Eats in Wiscasset, Maine

Can you imagine waiting in line for a delicious lobster roll when all of a sudden you realize you're standing next to Tom Cruise and the "Top Gun" star is also waiting to get something to eat?

It'd be pretty mind-blowing, right? (And do you change your order to get what he gets?)

According to the Wiscasset Newspaper, one of the co-owners of Red's Eats briefly shared the story of Cruise once showing up at the popular seafood spot and the employees' excited reactions.

She told the newspaper, "The girls (employees) were all looking out the window saying, ‘Oh my god, it’s Tom Cruise!’

Funnily enough, Al “Red” Gagnon, who bought the stand in 1977, according to the newspaper, responded with a "Who the hell is Tom Cruise?"

While there's no exact date tied to Cruise’s visit, the story lives on as an amazing moment. Tom Cruise in Maine!

He's not the only famous face to grace the seafood place either.

Singer Lionel Richie and celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern, amongst others, have also made a stop at Red's.

What is the history of Red's Eats in Wiscasset, Maine?

The famous Route 1 restaurant serving up delicious food to patiently waiting customers (often seen standing in a long line down the road) is a family-run business.

Gagnon ran Red's for more than 30 years, according to the restaurant's website, before it was passed on to his four children to continue the legacy.

It's back open once again for 2025 as of May 7.

And who knows?

Maybe after Cruise is done promoting his new movie, "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning," maybe he'll make a trip to Maine for a tasty lobster roll all these years later.

Now that would be a mission worth accepting.
