Massachusetts City Named Best and Cheapest for LGBTQ Home Buyers

Whether you’re part of the LGBTQ community or just someone who saw the words "cheapest" and "homebuyers" and looking to buy a home in Massachusetts, you might be in luck.

Even though we’ve made some strides in creating more inclusive spaces over the years, LGBTQ homebuyers still want a place that not only fits their lifestyle but also doesn’t annihilate their budget.

So, how did they come up with the best cities for LGBTQ homebuyers? Realtor.com did some digging. They focused on smaller cities that are both gay-friendly and won’t leave you broke. They checked out community vibes, local laws, and crunched the numbers to see which spots are the most welcoming and wallet-friendly.

Using U.S. Census Bureau data, Realtor.com looked at median home prices in the 100 largest cities across the country and pinpointed where same-sex couples are more likely to live. They then cross-referenced this with LGBTQ-friendly vibes to find the best spots to settle down.

After all the number-crunching and community scouting, Worcester, Massachusetts, came out on top as the best (and cheapest) city for LGBTQ homebuyers. And when we say cheapest, let’s be clear—we mean cheapest relative to today’s market, not cheap in the way we all wish.

And just in case you’re wondering where not to move, Metro Weekly crowned Memphis, Tennessee, as the least gay-friendly city in the U.S. On a broader scale, USA Today named New York as the best state for LGBTQ folks, while South Carolina ranked as the worst.
