New England Has to Put Up With Dry Skin in the Winter

At this time of year, New Englanders suffer from dry skin, big time.

If we go for a manicure, our cuticles are ridiculously dry and embarrassing.

Our hands are like sandpaper this time of year, and maybe like you, I'm fed up with it. So, I went to social media to find out what brand New Englanders like best.

Here are some of the responses I received:

• Bag balm! Apply thick at night time wear cheap little gloves to bed.
• Coconut oil. Just plain old Coconut oil.
• The Naked Bee.
• Blue Goo. It's not greasy and quickly absorbs. No nasty stuff in it either. Read the labels. If it has alcohol it ain't good!
• Working hands is the best!!!!
• Coconut oil plus Castor Oil then put some gloves on to let soak! The castor oil helps the coconut oil penetrate the skin.
• Josie Maran body butter and/or hand cream. Personally, I love the body butter! You can get a travel size.

And did you know some of them are made in New England?

Bag Balm is Produced in Vermont

We received more than one comment singing the praises of Bag Balm, produced in the Green Mountain State.  From personal experience, I do know that this stuff works.

The only thing that is a little off-putting for me is that it's used to soften up cow's udders, according to what my mother told me about it.

I guess that's fine, but I'm not sure I want the same stuff on my hands.  Is that being mean to the cows?  What's the word for that?

Hard Core Hand Care got a rousing recommendation from one of my co-workers.  He swears by the stuff.  It's made right here in New Hampshire, and as far as I can tell, you can only get it at very specific places (which I tried to find on their website, but couldn't) or at the factory itself at 16 Alden Avenue in Greenland.
