Remember the first time you drove after you passed your drivers test and officially got your license? (for some of us it may have taken a few tries but that's neither here nor there) What a liberating feeling! Even though it's just a small laminated card in your wallet with a picture of yourself on it that you probably hate (WHY is my forehead so shiny?!) there is something so cool about getting your license. It signifies independence and possibilities as you cruise off into adulthood in your dads old Chevy Lumina (if you know, you know)

Since we all need a Real ID after May 7th in the U.S even to fly domestically a question dawned on me:

Will children get Real IDs instead of licenses from now on?

According to dhs.gov, the answer is no. Children will not be getting REAL IDs instead of licenses; the REAL ID Act will mostly affect adults needing to board domestic flights or access federal facilities. Children under 18 typically don't need to present ID for domestic travel.

Okay, glad we got that sorted out.
