A woman pushing an empty baby stroller was stuck by a vehicle and left unconscious along Milton Road in Rochester Friday night.

Rochester Police said the woman was found around 10:20 p.m. near Hannaford lying on the ground along the northbound side of Route 125 with a head injury. Initial investigation indicates she was struck from behind by a vehicle that did not stay at the scene.

The woman, whose identity is not known, was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She was wearing a purple shirt, blue sweatshirt, white pants, and black shoes.

The vehicle that struck the woman likely has damage to the front passenger’s side, with potential damage to the hood and windshield.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call them at 603-330-7128 or Rochester Crimeline at 603-330-7128.

Route 125 is the subject of a "directed enforcement effort" until at least Labor Day from Plaistow to Milton, with local police and State Police targeting impairment, aggressive and distracted driving, and speeding.
