Tips for taking extra care during the holiday season to make sure your pets stay safe and healthy.

Christmas Tree hazards
You don’t want your pets drinking the water in the tree stand. It’s full of bacteria that can make your pet sick if they drink it. Plus both live and artificial trees have needles that can be harmful if ingested.

Decorate with care
Leave the lower portion of the tree bare, placing tinsel, lights and ornaments high on the tree to prevent your furry friends from playing with them. Also, leave bows and ribbons off presents that will be kept under the tree.

No Sneaking Human Food
Some people foods can be toxic to your pet or lead to serious injuries. Always keep your dog away from: chocolate, sugar-free treats, grapes, raisin, nuts, onion, and bones from fish, poultry or other meat sources.

Candles and Plants
Lots of homes will have candles burning this time of year.Keep them out of reach of wagging tails! Holiday plants, like holly, mistletoe and poinsettias can be poisonous.

Merry Merry!
