This year sure was a whirlwind, and whether we're ready for it or not, the holidays are right around the corner.

The city of Rochester is ready to embrace the holidays with a new competition to showcase the spirit of the city.

The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Holiday Events Committee is starting a community wide decorating event, according to Fosters.com.

They are currently looking for entries from businesses, organizations, or even your home decorated to the hilt with holiday lights!  The entries should be thirty seconds or less and can be submitted here.

Entries can be accepted until December 4th and you could even be included in a video they are putting together to show throughout the holiday season.

There are also prizes up for grabs, according to Fosters.com, including gift certiciates to restaurants, shopping and even groceries.  Judges will also come to visit the best entries to see the lights in person!

I think this is a great idea.  I think we all need a little cheer right now, and it's fun to just pile the kids in the car and drive around to look at the christmas lights.  Plus it's easy to socially distance from inside your car!

So, if you're a Rochester resident, and you want to show what you've got, make sure to take a video when you're all done and get it in to the Rochester Chamber's office.  You can find out more info at rochester.nh.org!
