MA Restaurant Waitstaff Gets $700 Tip From Loyal Customer

Let's face it. Waiting tables is hard work.  I did it all through my twenties and it's definitely not an easy gig.

2020 has made things extra difficult for servers, with restaurants varying between closed altogether, to half capacity throughout the summer and fall due to the pandemic.

That's what made this sweet gesture even more appreciated.

The staff at Brewer's Tap and Table in Waltham received a $700 tip from a regular customer on a $167.00 bill:

Bartender Kim Twomey told WBZ 4 that she started crying when she saw the tip:

Twomey tells WBZ4 that the tip was split among the staff and couldn't come at a better time.

“It was very, very emotional. It’s been hard since Covid. It’s been a struggle, that made everyone’s day, I just don’t think he knows how much that really helped everyone out.”

My son is currently waiting tables at Longhorn Steakhouse and I'm always surprised by the stories he tells when he gets home.  People leaving change, or a dollar or two on hundred dollar bills or sometimes stiffing the servers on a tip altogether.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the servers have to pay out the bartenders and hosts based on their total sales, so even if their tips weren't great, they are still having to "tip out".

It's so nice to see someone making this gesture and making life just a little bit easier for everyone working that night!
