Parents Beware: Baby Powder Recall in These New England States
We have a baby in the family, and honestly I am more concerned about his safety than my own, though he is not my child.
There are so many environmental hazards to protect our children from, so when the government issues a recall, that has my attention.
If you are a parent or grandparent, be aware of the current safety recall in the U.S.
There's a recall for Dynacare Baby Powder, sold through Amazon, including the four ounce and the 14-counce sizes. This baby powder recall has hit New England, along with a total of 35 states.
The FDA.gov says there is a potential contamination with asbestos. Dynacare is telling customers to stop using the baby powder immediately, and return it for a full refund.
The initial recall happened on September 19, 2024, but on October 28 the recall had been expanded.
New England states involved include Massachusetts and Vermont. There are 33 other states affected by this recall.
So far, there have been no illnesses nor adverse reactions reported, and the FDA reports the recall was the result of routine sampling. The products were shown to contain asbestos.
According to the World Health Organization, all forms of asbestos are carcinogenic to humans. Asbestos is a group of minerals found in rocks and soil, is used in all types of industry, and proven to cause cancer.
There's no indication of how the powder was contaminated, but the company has ceased distribution as an investigation moves forward.
