Did you know New Hampshire's White mountains is where the world's first mountain climbing cog railway came to be?

For more than 150 years, the Mount Washington Cog Railway has served as a premier New England attraction (according to their website) The railway route carries passengers up to the peak of Mount Washington, which is the "highest peak in the Northeast" at 6,288 feet.

So, what exactly is a 'cog railway'?

According to our pal Merriam-Webster, a cog railway is defined as "a steep mountain railroad that has a rail with cogs engaged by a cogwheel on the locomotive to ensure traction." The Cog Railway's website explains that the Mount Washington Cog Railway is the first of its kind in the world. I think it's pretty awesome that we have such unique history right here in the Granite State.

If you've never taken a ride on the Cog Railway up Mount Washington, it is something you need to experience at least once. Sure, it only goes about five miles per hour but that's not the point, okay?! You get to learn all about the rich history of the Mountain and all of the cool and scary stuff that has happened on its peaks and valleys over the last 150 years. Plus, once you ride the Cog once, you can refer to yourself as a "Cogger", and that's a fun club to be in.

Here's my husband Steven after our first time on the Cog:

On our way down, our snarky and hilarious tour guide told us about "Penny Rock", also known as "Money Rock". He told us that if a Cogger throws a penny out the window onto the rock and it lands heads up, their life will be forever changed. The rock is covered in hundreds of pennies from Coggers over the years. I, of course, participated, and my penny landed heads up! It made the most satisfying sound when it hit the rock. "BINK!" What a thrill!

And for all of you LEGO enthusiasts out there, someone posted to the New Hampshire Subreddit group this potential project for LEGO.

This 2,037 piece model of the Mount Washington Cog Railway has every possible detail; from the slanted front to the angled, adjustable seats. The person who designed this model decided to build it after going on this train in real life and feeling inspired by its unique design aspects.

This is the perfect set for any train lover to add to their collection! With its unconventional design and uncommon appearance, it is certain to make quite a presence on any display.

It's pretty awesome. To be clear LEGO doesn't make it yet but someone in the comments said the project needs 10K votes to become official. Support the project here.
