You know the old saying, "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute".

It's true.  There are so many terrains in New England, and specifically New Hampshire, there's really never an absolute when it comes to a longer range forecast.

When Do We Get the White Stuff?

However, we always look to our friends at the Farmers' Almanac for giving us a fairly accurate prediction each year, based on very calculated strategic formula, which is a secret.

Anyway, last year the winter in New England was disappointing, with warmer temperatures and very little snow.

I remember having an annual ski weekend planned in early March last year, and having to cancel because the mid-state New Hampshire ski resorts had no snow.  It was so warm the ski areas couldn't even make snow.

It was a disappointing ski season, but for those who love the warmer winter temps, it was a boon.

This year the Farmers' Almanac says we are in for a white winter, and seasonal temps, unlike last year.

According to the Almanac

The fabled almanac says sleet and rain are more likely for the coast, but the mountains will see plenty of snow, and that's great for winter businesses.

That's a warning for commuters on I-95 with sleet and rain being part of this winter, but I guess that's better than snow for frequent drivers.

If this brings feelings of worry, don't let it.  Just think back to 2015 when we had consecutive snowstorms for 3 weekends, and February is still the snowiest month, not January.

It looks like it will be a regular winter season, which this year includes snow. Yay?
