People Magazine Lifts North Shore Deli To International Spotlight

Featuring one of people magazine's "best sandwiches in the country" has lifted one North Shore Massachusetts deli to a whole new level.

Every town or city has the one place in town which calls their roast beef "famous." Famous by who? You? Your uncle? The sign out front? Yeah, most places claiming to be famous, aren't. However, one shop in Beverly, Mass is legit.

The magazine, distributed worldwide recently released a list of Best Sandwiches in Every State. Nick's Famous Roast Beef of 139 Dodge St. has been open since 1975. They kept the business running in tough times, like in 2015. According to the Boston Globe the owners faced an indictment alleging that between 2008 and 2013 the owners evaded nearly $1 million in taxes by failing to accurately report cash receipts. In 2017, they posted on Facebook “We have fully accepted responsibility for our past tax issues."
