Legendary New Hampshire Broadcaster Signs Off After Two Decades
As a broadcaster you can only hope that you become a positive fixture in someone's day. Ray Brewer has been a shining example of that over the last two decades on WMUR.
His dedication to his fellow members of the Daybreak Team and his viewers never ceases to amaze. I know many people who have had the privilege of running into Ray in the community over the years and I hear nothing but great things.
But alas, all good things must come to an end. After a very successful and fulfilling career in broadcasting, Ray has decided to hang it up and indulge in some well deserved R&R. And maybe take a break from the news cycle? Probably not! That part is in his blood!
The running joke is that no matter what is happening outside, be it snow, sleet, hail, or rain, Ray Brewer is out in the elements reporting on what's happening. He gets outside to tell us that we should all stay inside if we can!
WMUR released an article highlighting the "Free Ray Brewer" movement which was launched by fans of the dedicated reporter. They thought the guy could use a break being whipped around by wind so they sent him to the Omni Mount Washington for a spa day.
His final send off was heartwarming, honest, and so very Ray.
Ray, if you are reading this I want to thank you for inspiring me to pursue a career in broadcasting. Thank you for serving the people of New Hampshire and for braving the elements for us day after day! Enjoy your retirement and not having to set that 2 am alarm. You deserve it.
