Additional batches of mosquitoes collected in Manchester, have tested positive for West Nile Virus. This, now raises the Queen City risk level to 'Moderate.'

The Manchester Health Department made the announcement on Wednesday that mosquitoes collected on August 13 and 14, 2018  have tested positive for WNV.

According to Tim Soucy, MPH, Manchester’s Public Health Director, “We want to remind all of the residents of Manchester to continue to take steps to prevent being bitten by mosquitoes and to eliminate standing water on their property. Personal protection methods, like using an effective mosquito repellent and wearing long pants and sleeves at dusk and dawn are the single most effective ways to minimize risk.”

The City of Manchester Health Department will continue to trap mosquitoes on a regular basis for testing by the NH Public Health Laboratory. If additional mosquito batches positive, public health interventions such as spraying for adult mosquitoes may be indicated.
