Rochester Opera House Reopening With Grateful Dead, Prince Tribute Bands & More in New Hampshire

Yes, it's really back.  The curtain is being raised after an extra long intermission at the Rochester Opera House in New Hampshire.

Slowly, it appears exciting announcements are superseding the cancellations and postponements, so when we hear about any reopening or return of anything, it's a thrill for these once-taken-for-granted interests and pastimes.

Cheers to the Rochester Opera House for reopening Friday, February 25 after a brief pandemic hiatus, and talk about a way to reopen.  According to the Rochester Opera House website, it reopens with nostalgia at its best, taking us back to one of the most musically successful concerts of all time where the Grateful Dead headlined.

In addition to the Grateful Dead, who had just completed its legendary Spring/Summer 1977 tour featuring a batch of new material from Terrapin Station, the show also featured the Dead family’s New Riders of the Purple Sage and the good-time, southern rock of The Marshall Tucker Band. This tribute extravaganza will feature healthy “doses” of selections from each band’s sets that day with a relaxed, festival style program.

The opening excitement also includes tributes to the Stone Temple Pilots, Johnny Cash, and Prince among others through Spring and beyond.

Modern dance and ballet will take the stage...

...plus no shortage of comedy shows.

The Rochester Opera House is located at 31 Wakefield Street in Rochester, and will continue to adhere to strict guidelines.  According to its website:

Masks are required regardless of age or vaccination status when entering and moving through Rochester Opera House and Rochester Performance & Arts Center (RPAC). They may be removed when seated, actively eating or drinking.
