For those of you who shop the Shaw's Supermarket on Woodbury Ave in Portsmouth, you're not going to like this news at all.

According to an article from Seacoast Online the Shaw's located at 1600 Woodbury Ave. is going to be shutting down permanently. A spokesperson for Shaw's says the decision to close was due to the fact it was an under-performing location.

There are many other grocery stores in the area, including two Market Baskets, a Hannaford, Trader Joe's and McKinnon's.

Although there is not a definite closing date as of yet, the article says staff at the store have been instructed to halt deliveries of newspapers for sale from the store in two weeks. So, the closing date could be coming by the end of this month.

The company announced it was also closing three Shaw's locations in Massachusetts (Lynn, Plymouth and Leominster). There is no word right now on the fate of any other Shaw's Supermarkets throughout New Hampshire. There are over two dozen Shaw's locations in the Granite State.
