Worcester has been the site of a lot of filming recently.  We’ve had George Clooney sightings from his time filming “The Tender Bar.” Ryan Reynolds, Jon Hamm, and Will Ferrell have all been spotted in town working on film projects.  So why is Worcester suddenly the new Hollywood?  Despite its iconic architecture, beautiful parks, and scenery there may be another reason that filmmakers are repeatedly choosing to shoot in Worcester.

Movie Tax Credit

According to Masslive.com, the movie tax credit has a lot to do with all the movies being filmed in the state and Gov. Charlie Baker recently gave the okay to the extension of the program.  That’s great news for local businesses that all benefit from the movies being filmed in Massachusetts.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is coming!

Now the city of Worcester is seeing scouts out and about checking out locations for the filming of a chase scene for the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” according to masslive.com The movie is slated to be released on July 8, 2022.  If you live or work in Worcester, be prepared for some street closures at some point in the future.  If you see signs going up that street is to be closed, I would try and find a building that overlooks that street so I could watch the chase scene being filmed.  The good news is movies are back!  I can’t wait to sit in a movie theater and watch a new release.  Adding “Black Panther: Wakanda forever” to the Marvel universe of films is great for Marvel fans but it’s a little bittersweet for me after the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
